BRING YOUR FAMILY WHILE YOU STUDY

Leaving behind loved ones to pursue higher education is a difficult decision that many international students are faced with. In some cases, individuals with family obligations may not be able to study outside of their home country. Thankfully, international students are eligible to bring their spouse or common-law partner, as well as their children with them while they study in Canada.

FAMILY BENEFITS

During your studies, your spouse or common-law partner is eligible to receive an open work permit.  This visa allows them to seek employment anywhere in the country in almost any field, without the need of a prior job offer. When looking to immigrate to Canada, having these working credentials can also significantly increase your chances of permanent residence.

Your children are also eligible to study for free in Canadian public elementary or secondary schools without the need of a study permit.  Also, if you decide to stay in Canada after your studies through a Post-Graduation Work Permit, your family is eligible for continued status as well.
